Our latest milestone—the nationwide launch of Efes Pilsener into Tesco—reflects both our ambition and the growing consumer demand for premium alcohol and authentic global beer experiences.

From April 2026, Efes Pilsener will be available in more than 690 Tesco stores across the UK. The launch includes a range of formats designed for modern shoppers, from 660ml bottles to 4x440ml and 10x330ml can multipacks, making it easier than ever for consumers to discover and enjoy a premium Mediterranean lager at home.

The UK beer landscape continues to evolve, with UK breweries and small brand breweries playing a vital role in shaping consumer choice. While Efes is an internationally recognised brand, its growth in the UK reflects a broader trend: consumers are actively seeking out beers with strong heritage, quality credentials and a clear point of difference.

At Sunrise Beverages, we see ourselves as an enabler within this space—helping independent and emerging brands scale effectively by unlocking national retail opportunities. Expanding distribution through major retailers like Tesco is a critical step in bridging the gap between niche appeal and mainstream availability.

Capitalising on Premium Alcohol Trends

The rise of premium alcohol remains one of the most significant shifts in UK drinking habits. Shoppers are increasingly prioritising quality over quantity, exploring world lagers and craft-inspired options that offer authenticity and provenance.

Efes Pilsener is well positioned within this trend. Brewed since 1969 and enjoyed in over 50 countries, the brand has earned more than 85 international awards, reinforcing its reputation for consistency and quality. Its crisp, refreshing taste and Mediterranean character align closely with what today’s consumers expect from a premium lager.

This Tesco launch builds on strong foundations established in the on-trade. Since securing the UK licence in January 2025, Sunrise Beverages has invested in distribution, secured key group listings and connected directly with thousands of consumers through sampling and brand activations.

By expanding into grocery at scale, we are removing a key barrier for both consumers and stockists—availability. This not only supports trial and repeat purchase but also strengthens the brand’s position across both retail and hospitality channels.

For Sunrise Beverages, this launch represents more than just increased distribution—it is part of a broader strategy to support the growth of independent brands, champion UK breweries, and elevate small brand breweries within an increasingly competitive market.

Through a combination of strong partnerships, strategic retail expansion and integrated marketing, we remain focused on delivering premium experiences to UK consumers—while helping distinctive brands reach their full potential.
